Mission Contribution:
Strengthens families by coordinating respite services, providing information and access to resources in the community.
Function:
To coordinate and manage the AF/Navy Respite Service program, providing guidance and support to service providers, ensuring program effectiveness, compliance and quality service delivery.
This is a grant funded position made possible through funding with the United States Military / Child Care Aware. The position’s establishment and continuance may be dependent upon maintenance and renewal of these contracts.
Essential Functions:
1. Aggressively markets Goodwill Respite Program and recruits potential participants (families and caregivers) through community networking, involvement with local agencies, military personnel, and other service providers involved in related service areas in the community.
2. Screens, interviews and enrolls qualified service providers as Respite Program caregivers according to program guidelines.
3. Manages referral process for potentially eligible families and service providers and follows up properly to ensure completion of enrollment requirements according to contract agreements with Child Care Aware.
4. Provides and maintains proper, updated and accurate documentation on each family and caregiver, ensuring program compliance with regulatory agency.
5. Coordinates and/or provides required training activities, orientation sessions and enrollment for service providers, ensuring completion of all necessary paperwork and documentation.
6. Matches families with caregiver and monitors those matches through regular phone calls, email communications and regular on-site visits.
7. Accurately completes data entry for capturing demographic and service information into the Goodwill and funding agency partner reporting systems during the month of service.
8. Provides other statistical and programmatic reports as scheduled and required according to agency guidelines in a timely and efficient manner.
9. Communicates regularly with supervisor, funding agency partners, Goodwill mission services staff and community partners ensuring that all program activities and guidelines are implemented according to Goodwill expectations and consistent with contract requirements.
10. Maintains effective communications with families, service providers, other Goodwill staff, and community partners with timely follow up to emails and phone calls and through use of meetings, conferences, newsletters, memos, etc.
11. Indirectly or directly assists with the Medical Assistance Program.
12. Assists visitors to the Opportunity Center with needs such as Medical equipment loans, resource and referral information and job search activities.
13. Ensures confidentiality of participant records and private information, keeping in compliance with organization’s guidelines, policies and CARF regulations.
14. Assists in linking families to community resources and services provided by Goodwill and other community partners to address issues related to education, financial wellness, healthcare, housing and other basic needs.
15. Maintains accountability of inventory of supplies, materials and equipment essential to the operation of the program and follows proper procedures for new acquisitions and purchases.
16. Stays current on issues pertaining to disability, healthcare, family support services and education by participating in on-going training and professional development opportunities including seminars, conferences, in-house training and through personal research.
17. Collaborates with other local service providers, and professionals to build strong partnerships and networks within the community.
18. Acts as a positive role model for employees, caregivers, family members, and others in all aspects of professional performance.
19. Observes all safety procedures and personnel policies.
20. Regular attendance is required as outlined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.

Qualifications:

Skills, knowledge, and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).
1. Must be able to interact cordially with a variety of people including, agency staff, parents, community service providers, and other personnel.
2. Must be able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.
3. Must have knowledge of child development, family dynamics, special education, and disability issues.
4. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with and among respite care providers, and employees while motivating them to their best performance.
5. Must be able to effectively use Microsoft office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel and internet research.
6. Must possess excellent organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
7. Must demonstrate appropriate problem-solving and sound decision making to develop, implement and evaluate plans.
8. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
9. Must be able to keep information confidential.
10. Must be able to take initiative, make decisions and work well with little supervision.
11. Must be able to maintain effective communication with supervisor, respite care providers, families and others.
12. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which regularly includes some nights and weekends.
13. Must be able to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
14. Must be able to meet DHR Minimum Standards for childcare worker.
15. Must have reliable means of transportation and maintain insurable driving record.
16. Must obtain and retain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and respond to and manage a first aid, choking, or sudden cardiac arrest emergency at the worksite according to Goodwill Safety Policies & Procedures.
17. Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years, liability automobile insurance, and be insurable through the agency’s insurance carrier.
18. Must be at least 21 year of age.
Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in education or human service related field of study preferred.
• Minimum four year of experience in social service field with at least two years supervisory/ leadership role preferred.
• Experience working with persons with disabilities and/or their families preferred.
Working conditions / Hazards:
Some of this work will be performed in a professional office setting and are generally sedentary, requiring walking, standing, bending and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. At times while performing the duties of the job, the employee will be required to sit on the floor, stand, stoop, bend, walk, talk, hear, use hands to grip, type, and reach with arms. Occasionally spend 1 to 2 hours a day in strenuous physical activity. Frequent travel throughout the Gulf Coast area.
