The Vice President of Donated Goods Retail (DGR) provides executive leadership and strategic oversight of all Retail, Aftermarket, E-Commerce, and Transportation operations across Goodwill’s assigned territory. This role drives operational excellence, sustained revenue growth, and mission alignment through high-performing teams and best-in-class retail experiences.

This role ensures the retail enterprise consistently fuels Goodwill’s mission by maximizing donations, production, sales, and customer engagement.
Essential Job Functions
Leadership, Culture & Mission Integration
1. Promote a safety-first environment across all retail and operational locations.
2. Embed Goodwill mission throughout the retail ecosystem, expanding training and employment opportunities for program participants.
3. Foster a compelling, engaged workplace where employees feel valued, aligned, supported, and motivated to grow.
Retail, Aftermarket & E-Commerce Operations
5. Oversee all retail store operations to ensure friendly, efficient, clean, well-stocked, profitable environments.
6. Lead and scale e-commerce operations, including ShopGoodwill, and future platforms to drive digital growth.
7. Ensure exceptional customer service is consistently delivered at all touchpoints—internal and external.
8. Develop and maintain donation acquisition strategies including bins, workplace/community drives, and innovative sourcing solutions.
9. Coordinate and optimize receiving, sorting, pricing, and production workflows across the enterprise.
10. Monitor and analyze donation flow, quality, yields, and conversion metrics to inform operational strategy.
Strategic Planning & Growth
11. Provide executive leadership in selecting new sites, determining store size, store layout, and developing accurate financial projections.
12. Identify new market opportunities to increase donation volume and retail revenue.
13. Collaborate with executive leadership and Board on long-range strategic planning for retail growth.
14. Use demographic data, Good Sites insights, and competitor analysis to evaluate expansion opportunities.
Talent Management
15. Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier retail talent from associate level through senior leadership, in partnership with People Operations.
16. Drive leadership pipeline development through training, coaching, and career pathways.
Financial & Operational Governance
18. Prepare, oversee, and manage department budgets, ensuring strong financial stewardship and achievement of annual goals.
19. Establish and implement operational SOPs, policies, and quality standards grounded in continuous improvement.
20. Ensure compliance with agency policies, safety procedures, legal requirements, and Goodwill’s Code of Ethics.
21. Lead operational benchmarking using financial, production, donation, and customer experience data.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Community Engagement
22. Work alongside Donation Acquisition to build promotions and advertising strategies supporting sales and donation growth.
23. Partner with the Logistics Manager on salvage, logistics, transportation, and inventory movement.
24. Build and maintain strong relationships within the business and nonprofit community to elevate mission visibility and public trust.

Requirements
Experience
· Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership in a multi-unit retail environment required.
· 5 years of operations leadership preferred, including multi-site oversight, budgeting, and financial analysis.
· Experience in retail systems, big-box operations, thrift, or Goodwill environments strongly preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
