What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Electrician Instructor position at GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF MIDDLE GA?
The Adjunct Electrician Instructor for Helms College works under the direction of the Electrician Program Lead Instructor to educate students in the field of electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Delivering both classroom and lab instruction, instructors provide industry training in electrical theory, residential and commercial wiring, electrical safety, motors and motor controls, electrical test equipment and troubleshooting, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards. With guidance from the Electrician Program Lead Instructor, faculty develop and deliver their courses and maintain student documentation in Anthology, our student information system.
Attendance, Retention & Student Support
· Maintain visibility of student attendance and proactively identify attendance trends or concerns.
· Collaborate with the Electrician Program Lead Instructor and Student Services to support retention and student success initiatives in accordance with Helms College policies.
· Take attendance as required and accurately input attendance data into the Student Information System.
· Maintain student grades and enter grades into the Student Information System in a timely and accurate manner.
· Support student engagement and accessibility while maintaining appropriate academic and professional boundaries.
· Participation in attendance, retention, and placement activities does not include altering, influencing, or overriding official academic or institutional records.
Inventory, Labs & Equipment Oversight
· Monitor inventory of Electrician books, uniforms, tools, equipment, and instructional supplies.
· Maintain lab readiness by monitoring supply needs, equipment issues, and safety concerns.
· Document lab safety checks, identify hazards or deficiencies, and escalate concerns to Electrician Program Lead Instructor.
· Provide resupply recommendations and inventory updates to the Electrician Program Lead Instructor.
· All purchasing and procurement approvals are handled through established institutional processes and authorized personnel.
Administrative, Meetings & Professional Expectations
· Submit required paperwork, reports, evaluations, and instructional documentation to students and administration as required.
· Attend required faculty meetings, institutional meetings, and professional development workshops.
· Follow all academic, student services, and institutional policies and procedures.
· Accept constructive feedback and demonstrate continuous improvement based on student and administrative evaluations.
· Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Electrician Program Lead Instructor or Academic Leadership (e.g., Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs or Senior Vice President of Education).
Authority, Reporting & Role Boundaries
· The Electrical Program Instructor provides classroom leadership and student support.
· The Instructor reports directly to the Electrician Program Lead Instructor, with escalation to Academic Leadership as appropriate.
· This role does not possess independent authority to approve curriculum changes, modify academic decisions, or implement operational changes.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Electrical certification from an accredited college, associate degree preferred.
· Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred
· OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 Construction preferred
· NFPA 70E Electrical Safety training preferred
· 3-5 years of experience as an Electrician with residential and commercial experience.
· 2 years of higher education teaching experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
· Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.
· May be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on time of year.
