Job Summary
The Temporary Custodian II is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary facility for the Texas Department of Public Safety. This position performs routine daily cleaning, scheduled monthly maintenance, and semi-annual floor care while following all required safety procedures.
Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, maintaining restrooms, removing trash, caring for floors, keeping janitorial areas secure and organized, reporting maintenance concerns, and completing required service documentation. Additional sanitizing duties may be assigned during a declared pandemic in accordance with applicable CDC-approved protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily Cleaning Duties
General Cleaning
*
Dust and wipe surfaces throughout the facility.
*
Clean doors, glass, and other designated surfaces.
*
Disinfect drinking fountains and clean the exterior surfaces of breakroom appliances.
*
Collect trash from designated perimeter areas.
*
Empty and clean trash containers.
Restroom Cleaning and Sanitation
*
Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and partitions.
*
Restock restroom dispensers as needed.
*
Mop restroom floors using disinfectant.
Floor Care
*
Sweep, mop, and spot-clean VCT flooring.
*
Vacuum carpets weekly or as needed.
*
Clean floor mats.
*
Move chairs as needed to clean underneath and around them.
Monthly and Semi-Annual Duties
*
Monthly: Clean interior glass surfaces.
*
Monthly: Dust and vacuum high ledges, vents, door frames, and other elevated surfaces.
*
Every Six Months: Strip and wax VCT flooring.
Additional Pandemic-Related Services
If activated, additional cleaning and sanitizing duties may include:

Disinfecting high-touch surfaces, handrails, and electronics.
*
Sanitizing restrooms, breakrooms, and public areas.
*
Following applicable CDC-approved cleaning and disinfection protocols.
General Requirements
*
Follow all applicable Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines and safety procedures.
*
Keep janitorial closets clean, organized, and secure.
*
Promptly report maintenance issues to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
*
Complete the required Janitorial Service Report after each service.
*
Properly manage access badges and return them at the end of the contract.
