GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Deputy Treasurer is a full-time (35 hours/week) position requiring strong typing and data management skills, including use of database applications and a 10-key calculator. Responsibilities include processing documents, handling cash transactions accurately, and providing friendly, professional customer service. The office collects county property taxes, with peak periods around December 20 and June 20, limiting time off during those dates.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This applicant will be responsible for posting daily tax receipts and maintaining accurate records in the county database. Duties include data entry, processing documents, answering phones professionally, and collecting taxes on real and personal property. Also, handles special assessments, audits solid waste fees, and works with the assessor’s office on related changes. Ensures accurate posting, balancing, and daily deposit of all county revenues while safeguarding public funds.
MINOR DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES
The position is responsible for but not limited to ordering of all office supplies, picking up and processing the daily mail. Interact and update information with mortgage and taxing service agencies. Applicants will be responsible for daily general office and clerical procedures, as well as updating and maintenance of the Treasurer’s Web site.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Other: Applicant must have the ability to operate a 10 key calculator and have general computer and bookkeeping experience with the ability to process cash transactions. Applicants must have the ability to process work accurately and independently

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires regular standing, walking, sitting, bending, and use of hands for typing and handling materials. The employee may lift items that may weigh up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision, hearing, and clear communication skills are necessary. Work is performed in a typical office setting with moderate noise, with reasonable accommodation available for individuals with disabilities.
