JOB OPENING
Job Title: Detention Deputy-Position is open until filled.
Starting Pay: $25.96 an hour. Pay increases to $26.66/hour after certification through the Idaho P.O.S.T. Academy. Shifts are 12 hours long and you will work 14 days during a 28 day pay period. Every other weekend is a 3-day weekend.

Job Description: Gooding County is a smaller agency where deputies work as a team on a wide variety of tasks. They will work in the jail and the courthouse. Deputies’ will check inmates in and out of the jail, conduct searches, transport inmates, monitor cameras, phone systems, conduct security checks, oversee court proceedings, and assist with the medical needs of inmates. Deputies will also help members of the public with various needs at the courthouse.
Requirements are:
- Previous law enforcement experience is not required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid Idaho driver’s license.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Be able to pass the P.O.S.T. physical test within 6 months. (requirements can be found on the Idaho P.O.S.T. website).
- Work rotating weekends, holidays, day shift, swing, or night shift (12-hour shifts).
- Pass a polygraph and background check.
