The Aquatics Director for our Seasonal Camp located in the Bronx will supervise and train the Lifeguards on accident prevention and monitoring procedures in the swimming areas.

Hours: Hours/Week; Non-Exempt (Seasonal) 10 hours p/week

Major Duties
- Design, develop, and implement a water safety plan for the program.
- Train lifeguards on accident prevention, assisting swimmers, and rescue procedures.
- Provide training to camp staff on the water safety plan.
- Monitor lifeguards and the camp swimming activities.
- Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid.
- Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of rescue and emergency procedures when an accident occurs.
- Maintain order in swimming areas.
- Conduct or officiate swimming meets.
- Provide swimming instructions when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be age 21 or over as required by New York City law.
- Must have 3 years’ experience as a Lifeguard or Aquatics Instructor.
- Must have a CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification issued within the last 365 days, an unexpired Progressive Swimming Instructor / Water Safety Instructor certification, and Lifeguard Management certification, or be willing to obtain all before the commencement of employment, as per NYC DOHMH regulations.
- Must be a certified progressive swimming instructor.
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
- Must have lifeguard management/supervision certification.
