What are the responsibilities and job description for the NIGHT WATCHMAN position at GOOD SHEPHERD NURSING HOME LC?
Summary of Position:
Ensures overall safety of residents, staff and visitors during nighttime hours. Controls inventory in relation to rotating, unloading, and delivery supplies.
Daily Security Responsibilities:
- Secure building in the evening by locking outside doors and windows as well as offices and common areas inside. Turn off lights on the first floor and Chapel.
- Opens entrances to Dietary, Laundry, first floor offices and common areas in the morning as well as turning on lights on the first floor and Chapel.
- Make regular rounds inside and outside of building to protect against unauthorized activity or entry and to uncover security concerns such as fire hazards, thefts and property damage.
- Close parking lot gate located at the Southend of the facility at 9pm and open it at 6am.
- Make nightly rounds to other locations of the corporation to protect against unauthorized activity or entry and to uncover security concerns such as fire hazards, thefts and property damage.
- Monitors parking lot during changes of shifts.
- Observe security cameras and outside areas for residents wandering from the facility or around the first floor and courtyards.
- Is aware of visitors entering and leaving the building to ensure safety of staff and residents.
- Opens building for family or friends coming to visit critical residents after visiting hours.
- Completes daily security report form for the Administrator.
Disaster Role:
- Leads firemen from the Main Entrance to area indicated by read out on fire alarm control board and communicates with the Supervising Nurse at the command post as the situation unfolds.
- Complete scheduled fire drills with the assistance of Supervising Nurse to ensure the facility is in compliance with health safety regulations of CMS.
Supply Room Duties:
- Delivers supplies to the Nurses' stations and to clean utility rooms.
- Delivers supplies as requested by nursing staff.
- Informs the Purchasing Agent of verbal requests for items from the Supply Room.
- Labels and stock supplies under the direction of the Purchasing Agent.
- Maintain inventory count in Inventory Dynamics.
- Escort bread and milk deliveries to Dietary Kitchen.
- Empty trash cans and breakdown boxes located in the basement.
- Removing excess stock located in unapproved areas of nursing units.
Maintenance Duties:
- Shovel and salt sidewalks, steps, bridge, and parking lots during the winter months under the direction of the Maintenance Director.
- Sweep and maintain cleanliness of sidewalks and steps.
- Inform Maintenance Director of need for the replacement of security lights and other security related items at all facilities.
- Carries out minor maintenance tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Director as needs arise.
Other Obligations:
- Responds to Emergency Calls from the Clara Welty Apartments, Bertha Welty Apartments, or Welty Town Village.
QAPI

- Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School Graduate; Complete a Background Check and Drug Screening; History of working well with others. Transportation in good working order.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Standing for long periods; Walking great distances; Lifting 40-50 pounds, Operating a cell phone; Completing daily forms mentioned above.
