Job Summary

Job Type: Full Time
Professional registered nurse gives direct and indirect specialized nursing care to patients while preparing for intra-operative experience. The nurse in the pre-op role coordinates the care of the patient and is the patient advocate throughout the pre-operative experience. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications
- Florida R.N. licensure
- Basic Life Support
Minimum Experience
One year med/surgical experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Requires walking and standing during most of the time on duty.
- Frequent reaching, handling of equipment and supplies.
- Speaking and hearing essential for relaying of information, receiving doctors orders.
- Visual acuity required to work with records and equipment.
- Frequently lifting 30-50 pounds/ repositioning of patients.
- Are to push stretchers to the OR room with patients in attendance to facilitate efficient time management.
- Works beyond scheduled tour of duty in an emergency.
- Maintains a state of health adequate to perform the duties of the job.
- Possible contact to moving mechanical parts.
- Required to make decisions and concentrate – continuously.
- Exposure to temperature extremes – moderate.
- Work environment lighting and noise - varies.
- Exposed to stressful and traumatic situations.
- Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals – varies.
