About the Role:
As a Home Health Aide in Indiana, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities in their own homes. Your primary goal will be to enhance the quality of life for clients by supporting their physical, emotional, and social needs while promoting independence and dignity. You will work closely with healthcare professionals and family members to implement care plans tailored to each client's unique requirements. This role demands a high level of empathy, patience, and reliability, as you will often be the primary point of contact for clients in vulnerable situations. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute significantly to the well-being and comfort of those you serve, enabling them to remain safely in their homes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide training program.
- Certification as a Home Health Aide in the state of Indiana.
- Ability to pass a background check
- Evidence of negative TB test result.
- Basic knowledge of personal care and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a Home Health Aide or in a related caregiving role.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation software.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Additional training in specialized care areas such as dementia or chronic disease management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to maintain hygiene and comfort.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers to prevent falls and promote physical activity within their capabilities.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor clients’ health status, reporting any changes or concerns to healthcare supervisors.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation and encourage social engagement.
- Perform light housekeeping duties including laundry, cleaning, and organizing to maintain a safe and healthy living environment.
- Document care provided and communicate effectively with healthcare teams and family members to ensure continuity of care.
