Maintenance Lead

Job Summary: 
The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for implementing and maintaining plant equipment, systems, and other fixed assets to a high standard of safety, quality and productivity at the lowest possible cost.  In addition, while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, this role will provide leadership and direction to the third shift maintenance team.

Job Responsibilities:
• Leads the 3rd shift maintenance team. Assists in assigning work, ensuring safety, accountability, and effective use of all maintenance resources. 
• Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to make sure Maintenance techs are adequately trained.
• Answers floor calls and delegates calls to maintenance team.
• Utilizes CMMS system to accurately account for PMs, work orders, and maintenance parts. 
• Assures human and product safety and by utilizing safety programs like LOTO.
• Responsibility for all facets of machine repair and machine maintenance. 
• Preventative maintenance of production machinery, packaging machinery, and conveyor systems. 
• Installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of machinery, equipment, and facilities. 
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. 
• Working with production leadership and machine operators to ensure as little downtime as possible. 
• TIG welding and fabrication as needed. 
• Follow all USDA, FDA, GMP and Good Foods Group guidelines. 
• Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications and Additional Skills:
• Must be 18 years of age or older 
• GED or high school diploma is required
• Valid Driver’s License  required and insurable by Good Foods Group insurance company
• Technical certificates preferred, include but are not limited to:
o PLCs/VFDs
o Mechanical systems 
o Electrical systems
• 5 years of Industrial Maintenance experience within a high-speed production environment
• Ability to work an off-shift work schedule that includes weekends
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation coverage including nights and weekends
• Ability to use fabrication equipment (Mill, Lathe, etc.)
• Ability to read and use electrical schematics
• Ability to troubleshoot PLCs utilizing ladder logic
• 3 years of lead experience of a team of 4 or more.
• Basic computer literacy, including skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Previous similar manufacturing experience (food, pet food, pharmaceuticals)
• Experience working with Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix. Siemens PLC
• Readiness to go extra mile to avoid mistakes and produce new opportunities
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and pay close attention to details
• Ability to problem solve and provide strategic solutions quickly
• Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
• Willingness and ability to work in a team environment
• Bilingual a plus

Work Environment:
• Individual will be subject to production and warehouse environment (Wet environment with temperatures ranging from 38 to 40 degrees)
• Medium/ High noise levels from operating machines and cleaning equipment
• Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
• Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food Manufacturing (GMP’S) processes
• Frequently required to use personal protective equipment when using any cleaning chemicals

Physical Requirements:
• Able to hold stationary positions for extended periods of time
• Able to communicate information accurately to others
• Able to detect and discern sounds accurately in order to exchange information
• Able to move throughout workspace frequently
• Adjust self to stooping, reaching, crouching, and twisting positions on occasion
• Able to observe details at close range, perceive colored images as well as effectively perceive computer generated images on a screen
• Inspect, activate, operate, and position any appropriate machinery functions
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Able to work overtime and/or weekends.
