Your primary responsibility will be to prepare meals that are both palatable and appetizing, while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas
- Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties
- Support the facility's philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives
- Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education
- One (1) year dietary experience in a healthcare facility or other institution is preferred, but is not required
- Prepare food that is palatable and appetizing in appearance by cooking, baking, roasting, frying, cutting, chopping, slicing, mincing, etc.
- Prepare foods in accordance with the following Food and Nutrition Service requirements as necessary: general, 2 and 4 gram sodium, diabetic and calorie controlled, high protein, low cholesterol, low fat, bland, mechanical soft, soft, puree, renal and liquid
- Ensure that food preparation meets the daily meal schedules
- Follow standardized recipes in food preparation to ensure quality of foods prepared
- Prepare the correct amount of foods as designated by the Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor
- Set up sample plates demonstrating correct serving portions
- Serve food on the tray line and to the staff as assigned by the Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor
- Control food and labor costs without compromising the high standard of food service quality
