We are working with a leading prop trading firm to identify a Windows Systems Engineer to join their global infrastructure function. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who thrives in a high-performance, fast-paced environment where stability and precision matter.
The Role
You will be responsible for the engineering, administration, and continuous improvement of the firm's Windows server infrastructure across production and corporate environments. This is a role for someone who takes genuine ownership and operates with minimal supervision.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, deploying, and maintaining Windows Server infrastructure across production and corporate environments
- Owning Active Directory architecture, Group Policy design, DNS, DHCP, and PKI infrastructure
- Managing and optimising VMware virtualisation platforms at an infrastructure level
- Developing and maintaining PowerShell automation and scripting frameworks to reduce manual operational overhead
- Owning patching strategy, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management across the Windows estate
- Hardening Windows environments in line with CIS benchmarks and internal security standards
- Investigating and resolving complex, high-priority incidents in a time-critical production environment
- Contributing to infrastructure architecture decisions alongside network and security engineering teams
What We're Looking For
- 3–8 years hands-on Windows Systems Engineering experience in a production environment
- Deep Active Directory expertise — architecture, replication, trusts, GPO design, and troubleshooting
- Strong VMware vSphere/ESXi administration and optimisation experience
- Advanced PowerShell scripting capability — automation, configuration management, reporting
- PKI and certificate management experience
- Solid understanding of Windows security hardening and patch management at scale
- Production financial services, trading, or similarly high-performance environment experience essential
- Strong incident diagnosis and root cause analysis capability
Beneficial
- Cloud exposure — Azure or AWS
- Linux administration experience
- Experience with enterprise storage or backup platforms
- Familiarity with IT service management or ticketing systems
Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
