Job Summary:

The Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement Coordinator supports a safe, organized, quality-focused, and continuously improving manufacturing environment. This position maintains a strong daily presence on the production floor, coaches employees and supervisors, identifies hazards and process breakdowns, supports compliance requirements, and leads practical improvements in safety, quality, workflow, workplace organization, and standardized work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily floor walkthroughs, identify hazards, ensure PPE compliance, and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Conduct and document formal weekly safety and 5S inspections
  • Document accidents and near-misses, support root-cause analysis, and help implement corrective actions.
  • Provide ongoing safety reminders lead monthly safety training, assist with new-hire safety onboarding, and reinforce proper equipment use.
  • Maintain required OSHA records, including OSHA 300, 301 and 300A documentation, where applicable.
  • Coordinate lockout/tagout, hazard communication, machine guarding, forklift, hot-work, respiratory protection, hearing conservation and emergency-action procedures.
  • Review Safety Data Sheets and ensure chemicals are properly labeled, stored and accessible.
  • Support job hazard analyses for welding, fabrication, machining, assembly, material handling, loading and other higher-risk activities.
  • Participate in the review of new machinery, tools, chemicals, workstations and production processes before implementation.
  • Maintain a corrective-action system that assigns an owner, deadline, priority and verification of completion.
  • Lead near-miss reporting and encourage reporting without blame or retaliation.
  • Track recurring defects, scrap, rework and warranty-related production issues.
  • Verify employees are using current drawings, work instructions, bills of material, inspection requirements and approved manufacturing methods.
  • Help develop visual work instructions and standardized work at critical workstations.
  • Facilitate short improvement events focused on safety, quality, motion, material flow, workstation layout and cycle time.
  • Support preventive maintenance reporting by identifying unsafe or malfunctioning equipment; maintenance should remain responsible for repairs.
  • Conduct periodic emergency drills and coordinate first-aid/AED readiness.
  • Report serious or unresolved safety and quality concerns directly to senior leadership.
  • Lean Manufacturing Initiatives: Support 5S, waste reduction, standardized work, and continuous improvement projects to streamline processes and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Monitor product quality on the shop floor, verify adherence to specifications, assist with in-process inspections, and help identify root causes of defects or rework
  • Efficiency Improvements: Observe workflows, identify bottlenecks, recommend process improvements, and help implement Lean-based solutions.
  • Verify machines, tools, and workstations are clean, organized, and functioning properly.
  • Maintain safety logs, efficiency metrics, quality checks, and continuous improvement documentation.
  • Work closely with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and HR to support a safe, productive, and quality-focused environment.

Requirements:


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Education: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • Certifications: Preferred – OSHA 30-Hour, CHST, CSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Three or more years of experience in manufacturing safety, quality, production supervision or continuous improvement preferred.
  • Skills: Hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, safety training delivery, data analysis, lean manufacturing implementation and process optimization.

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
