The Accounting Assistant provides accounting, administrative, and customer service support for the Council. This position is responsible for accounts payable processing, expense reconciliation, financial recordkeeping, office support, and assisting volunteers, staff, and customers in a professional and timely manner.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, customer-focused, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision
Responsibilities:
· Process accounts payable invoices and vendor payments accurately and timely.
· Review, reconcile, and process employee expense reports and reimbursements.
· Reconcile monthly corporate credit card statements and supporting documentation.
· Prepare and maintain daily and monthly financial closing reports.
· Conduct regular audits and reviews of financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
· Maintain organized financial and administrative records in accordance with council policies and procedures.
· Assist with customer service functions, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and assisting walk-in customers.
· Support registration, program, and activity database management and data entry.
· Provide administrative and clerical support to accounting and office operations.
· Assist with mail processing, filing, copying, and other office support duties as assigned.
· Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure accurate processing of financial and membership-related information.
· Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, volunteer, and customer information.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma and Equivalent Work Experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting, accounts payable, administrative, or office support experience in a fast-paced professional environment required.
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, mail merge, and reporting functions.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in financial processing.
· Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
· Prior nonprofit or Scouting experience is a plus.
Licenses and Certifications: Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB) or Certified Bookkeeper (CB) Preferred

Salary or Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000
The anticipated salary range for this position is dependent on qualifications and experience.
