As the Casino Controller, you are responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of all financial functions related to casino and gaming operations. You will lead the Accounting and Finance team, oversee internal controls, and serve as a key liaison with regulatory bodies while supporting cross-functional decision-making and operational excellence in a dynamic hospitality and gaming environment.
Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Casino Finance and Accounting departments, ensuring alignment with company goals, regulatory requirements, and service standards
- Oversee day to day accounting finance functions at the assigned location(s) ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and GAAP
- Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing team members, fostering a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Lead the execution of finance and regulatory compliance initiatives, converting strategic goals into actionable plans with measurable outcomes
- Ensure continuous compliance with the Nevada Gaming Control Board's Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and all applicable regulatory guidelines
- Prepare, review, and file Suspicious Activity Reports for Casinos (SARCs) and all other required gaming-related regulatory reports and documentation
- File monthly, quarterly, and annual taxes, license fees, and required financial statements with the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Internal Revenue Service, county, and city regulatory agencies
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close process for all revenue streams, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and accounting schedules, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with GAAP and internal policies
- Serve as a strategic financial partner to senior leadership, offering insights based on financial and operational data analysis to support business decisions
- Coordinate and support external and internal audits, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution of findings
- Maintain and monitor effective internal controls across gaming and non-gaming revenue processes
- Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, if they apply to the position
- Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company's guest service culture standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 7 years of accounting or financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within a gaming, hospitality, or regulated industry environment
- In-depth knowledge of gaming financial operations, regulatory compliance (including MICS and Title 31), and financial reporting requirements
- Demonstrated success in leading financial teams and managing large-scale or multi-departmental finance operations
- Exceptional decision-making, planning, and analytical skills with a track record of achieving measurable business results
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills; ability to influence and collaborate across departments
- Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments while driving operational efficiency
- Skilled in financial forecasting, budgeting, GAAP compliance, audit coordination, and process improvement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with analytics tools and business intelligence platforms
- Experience with Workday is strongly preferred
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or MS Accountancy preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
- Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
