Job Summary: A Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components to meet project specifications. This role requires strong technical knowledge, precision, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabrication and Assembly:
o Commercial tinner is responsible for measuring, cutting, and shaping sheet metal using various tools such as shears, snips, and presses.
o Assemble metal components using welding, riveting, or other fastening methods.
- Equipment Operation:
o Operate tools and machinery such as brake presses, CNC cutting machines, and welding equipment.
o Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of tools and machines.
- Quality Control:
o Inspect finished product to ensure they meet design and quality standards.
o Identify and correct defects or inconsistencies.
- Safety Compliance:
o Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
o Maintain a clean and organized work are to prevent hazards.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Technical/vocational training in metal fabrication is beneficial.
- Experience: Experience in sheet metal fabrication or related field is beneficial.
- Skills:
o Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical schematics.
o Skilled in the use of metal fabrication tools and machinery.
o Knowledge of various metals and their properties (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel).
o Strong attention to detail and ability to meet precise measurements.
o Basic mathematical and problem-solving skills.
Communication: Good communication skills are important for interacting with clients, and team members.
