Position Summary:
The Logistics Specialist manages key transportation and logistics functions, ensuring efficient coordination of outbound and inbound freight, accurate shipment planning, and resolution of logistics-related issues such as overages, shortages, and damages (OSD). This position plays a pivotal role in supporting cold storage operations, carrier relationships, customer service, and sales initiatives to deliver exceptional service and supply chain execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Coordination & Shipment Planning
- Book all outbound frozen shipments for delivered customers from cold storage facilities.
- Utilize FTBD reports to maintain weekly and monthly shipment planning sheets.
- Coordinate inbound raw material transportation schedules to align with production and storage needs.
- Provide load ready times to the transportation team to facilitate scheduling and carrier communication.
Customer Support & OSD Management
- Collaborate with customer service to manage customer returns and RMAs (Return Merchandise Authorizations).
- Report all OSD (Overages, Shortages, Damages) issues to appropriate internal teams for resolution.
- Initiate investigations with cold storage partners regarding discrepancies and maintain full tracking of OSD issues for both CPU (Customer Pickup) and DEL POs.
Freight & Carrier Communication
- Assist with researching and resolving Accounts Payable (AP) issues related to freight invoices or discrepancies.
- Provide accurate freight rates to the sales team for customer bids, proposals, and quote requests.
- Support freezer transfer and condemnation processes as needed by customer service and warehouse operations.
System Management & Documentation
- Maintain and update item specifications within SharePoint and ensure cold storage facilities receive the most current versions.
- Regularly review and validate logistics data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with operational standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
Proven experience in transportation and logistics coordination within a fast-paced supply chain environment, preferably in the food or cold chain industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with shipment planning tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).
- Experience managing OSD tracking and freight documentation a strong plus.
- Key Competencies:
