Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as a Charge Nurse within our healthcare facility. As a Charge Nurse, you will oversee daily nursing operations, coordinate patient services, and mentor nursing staff to ensure compliance with healthcare standards. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during shifts, ensuring efficient and effective patient care delivery.
- Assess patient conditions through comprehensive physical examinations and vital sign monitoring, utilizing physiology knowledge to inform care plans.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
- Oversee medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Manage patient assessments, triage urgent cases, and prioritize care based on acuity levels in various settings including acute care, long-term care, or assisted living environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute or hospice care services.
- Ensure infection control practices are maintained rigorously to prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the facility.
- Provide education on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication management, and disease prevention tailored to individual patient needs.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in critical care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; experience with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is preferred.
- Strong background in diverse clinical areas such as medical-surgical nursing, geriatrics, dementia care—including Alzheimer’s and memory care—and behavioral health.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring specialized care such as tube feeding or ventilator management.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, sterile techniques, and aseptic procedures.
- Excellent assessment skills combined with the ability to manage acute pain and perform diagnostic evaluations effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating leadership qualities essential for charge nurse responsibilities.
