Duties
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during weekend shifts, ensuring optimal patient care delivery.
- Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Manage clinical operations including medication administration, IV infusion, catheter care, and wound management.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and safety policies across all nursing activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes.
- Provide guidance on complex clinical procedures such as ventilator management, spinal taps, or cardiac catheterization when necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or Epic.
- Support staff development through supervision, mentoring, and training on new protocols or technologies like ICD-10 coding or EHR systems.
Skills
- Extensive experience with Epic EMR systems and proficiency in medical documentation practices.
- Critical care experience including ICU or Level I Trauma Center background is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to acute care settings.
- Demonstrated leadership in supervising nursing teams within hospital medicine or long-term care environments.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques, tube feeding management, sterile processing, and infection control procedures.
- Familiarity with specialized areas such as behavioral health, dementia care, or pediatric nursing including PICU or neonatal ventilator experience.
- Competence in managing complex cases involving ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), DRG (Diagnosis Related Group), or CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays while maintaining compassionate care standards.
- Excellent communication skills for triage situations, team coordination, and family interactions within diverse healthcare settings.
