Goff Welding LLC
Paul, ID Full Time
POSTED ON 12/20/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/26/2026

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement & Inventory Control Manager to oversee purchasing, vendor relations, and material flow in a job shop environment. This role is critical to ensuring our Customer Relationship Managers (CRMs), field teams, and customers are supplied with the right materials at the right time. Unlike a large-scale manufacturing setting, our procurement needs are project-specific and demand flexibility, speed, and clear communication.

The ideal candidate is strategic yet hands-on, comfortable balancing day-to-day purchasing tasks with building long-term systems and vendor relationships. This role will also support the development of procurement procedures and serve as a bridge between internal operations and external customers.

Responsibilities

Procurement & Job Coordination

  • Utilize SAP Business One to manage purchasing, monitor stock, and track supplier performance.
  • Work directly with CRMs on a continual basis to ensure jobs are supplied with accurate and timely materials.
  • Support project-specific purchasing needs rather than repetitive manufacturing orders.

Vendor & Customer Relations

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to secure quality products at competitive pricing.
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for vendors and customers regarding material availability, delivery timelines, and order status.
  • Lead in the resolution of Customer and Supplier Issues related to materials.

Collaboration with Internal Teams

  • Partner closely with the Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Coordinate with project managers, CRMs, and field teams to forecast upcoming material requirements.
  • Report directly to the Office Manager on key performance indicators to monitor our supply chain.

Leadership & Department Oversight

  • Provide coaching, training, and support to team members within procurement and inventory functions.
  • Monitor workloads, priorities, and team performance to ensure materials are procured and distributed efficiently.
  • Ensure regular inventory cycle counts are completed
  • Report on department performance to management, identifying challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure the procurement department operates smoothly, aligns with company goals, and supports overall project success.

Process Development & Improvement

  • Assist in refining procurement procedures that increase efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Identify areas for streamlining job-specific purchasing processes while maintaining compliance with company standards.

Industry Knowledge & Growth

  • Develop a working knowledge of the welding industry and materials commonly used in fabrication and installation.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, vendor offerings, and alternative materials to better support CRMs and customers.
  • Monitor market trends, seasonality, and pricing fluctuations to anticipate cost changes and take advantage of strategic purchasing opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in construction, welding, or related industries.
  • Proficiency in industry leading MRP Software systems.
  • Leadership experience, including training, coaching, and performance monitoring of direct reports or cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with experience handling both vendors and customers directly.
  • Ability to balance multiple job-specific material requirements in a fast-paced job shop setting.
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and adaptability.
  • Customer Service Attitude
  • Ability to transform implicit requests into explicit specifications through active listening, intelligent questioning, and collaborative problem solving.
