Senior Electrical Controls Engineer
Location: Littleton, CO (Technical Centre Office)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $140,000 – $170,000 USD
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to support the delivery of capital projects at our manufacturing facilities across North America. This role is based at our Technical Center in Littleton, CO, and plays a key part in a growing portfolio of projects valued from $1M to $15M, with a strong emphasis on electrical and controls scope.
In this position, you will lead the electrical and controls engineering efforts from concept through implementation. You will develop scope documents, perform engineering calculations and designs, create specifications, prepare cost estimates and schedules, manage vendor and contractor relationships, and deliver complete project documentation and training.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Apply the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (arc flash and shock hazards) and lead E&C safety initiatives.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for electrical and controls engineering.
- Provide E&C support on projects led by others, including power distribution and control system calculations.
- Develop equipment specifications (switchgear, transformers, MCCs, drives, PLCs, HMIs, etc.) and adhere to established standards.
- Identify suppliers, issue bid packages, evaluate bids, and manage orders through installation and warranty.
- Procure and oversee contractors for installation work.
- Deliver accurate cost estimates, schedules, and financial forecasts.
- Create and maintain all project documentation (scopes, drawings, start-up procedures).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in control systems engineering or a discrete manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated capability in electrical systems design, control systems, and automation technologies.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Proven ability to manage and support multiple projects simultaneously.
- Successful track record leading projects valued between $500K and $2M.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience engineering and implementing 480V (switchgear, power distribution panels, motor control centers) and 4160V power distribution systems.
