We are a full‑service, design‑to‑implementation, certified Systems Integrator with a UL508A control panel shop, providing seamless systems integration from initial installation to complete systems programming.
Summary
Mountain Peak Controls is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for organizing, designing, and implementing electrical, instrumentation, and control projects for the water and wastewater industry. You will play a crucial role in project success from bidding through closeout, ensuring clear communication and high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities
Project Initiation & Planning:
- Coordinate with estimating and company management to clarify project scope and set up project infrastructure to assure accurate communications with the end-user, direct customer, company management, production department, programming, and service personnel.
- Occasionally, participate in the project bidding process, working closely with the estimating department to clarify requests for quotations, plans, and specifications, and verify accuracy and clarity for Mountain Peak Controls scope items.
Design & Documentation:
- Design, document, and submit for approval engineered packages for project equipment, including Low Voltage Distribution and Motor Control Hardware, Control Panels, and Instrumentation. This encompasses performing detailed electrical and control system design, including logic control design or validation thereof, conducting thorough load and heat calculations, and ensuring full UL 508A compliance. These tasks are carried out to ensure high standards of service and strict adherence to our well-documented processes. Work directly with CAD personnel to ensure proper designs.
Project Execution & Coordination:
- Manage project schedules to ensure timely completion and coordinate production, testing, delivery, installation, documentation, and start-up.
- Release materials and equipment for purchase and/or fabrication.
- Resolve scope, technical, and budget issues.
- Facilitate and lead project meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and progress.
- Collaborate closely with the estimating and accounting team to provide necessary input for project billings and Schedule of Values (SOV), demonstrating accountability.
Project Closeout & Improvement:
- Close out projects by tracking and resolving punch list items and producing and supplying project deliverables.
- Developing Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
- Conduct “Lessons Learned” meetings and provide feedback to other departments for recognition of good practices and individual contributions, and recommended process improvements.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders, including the end-user, direct customer, company management, production, programming, and service personnel, ensuring project success through effective teamwork.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE preferred) or a related field. Equivalent experience would be considered.
- A minimum of 3 years of electrical and instrumentation design and coordination experience, preferably within the water and wastewater industry.
- Basic understanding of the water and wastewater industry.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
- Understanding of the electrical/controls industry.

Supervisory Requirements
The Project Engineer has limited or no direct supervision responsibility.
Full‑time
$100,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year depending on experience
