Goatlandia is a 501c3 farm animal rescue and sanctuary located in Sebastopol California. We rescue farm animals and educate the public about the many benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. We are looking for a Social Media Coordinator to help communicate our mission to the public in a fun, informative and engaging way. We also have a catering and food program so some content will involve food, beverage, and food related events as well. In this position, you’ll be contributing to a meaningful cause while gaining valuable experience in nonprofit digital media.
The objective of our Social Media program is to gain followers, increase engagement, and help spread our message. Our platforms currently include Facebook and Instagram.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be local to Sonoma County and available to be onsite at the sanctuary and at events part time as needed to obtain content.
A strong working knowledge of social media and the tools involved in social media for businesses
A passion and appreciation for our mission, animal welfare, and for the plant-based movement.
A willingness to work weekends as needed documenting activities and events and gathering content
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a fast-paced team
A good eye for artistic design and composition
Excellent writing skills and the ability to create interesting, fun, engaging and sometimes educational content
Experience creating social media for a business or non profit is preferred, but we are wiling to consider someone with no experience and with high motivation and a very strong desire to learn
Responsibilities include:
Planning and developing social media campaigns using both written and visual elements
Obtaining and crafting compelling content (photos, videos, and written text)
Posting content across social media accounts
Monitoring responses and engaging with customers and followers on different channels
Analyzing and reporting data on followers, impact and engagement; reporting to the Executive Director
Staying on top of the latest social media trends and tools
Staying informed of news and current events and relating to them through our social media in a timely and sensitive manner
