Goat Hill World Market is seeking a customer-focused, sales-driven, and detail-oriented Shift Lead to help create an exceptional shopping experience every day.

Leadership

• See the store as a whole and take initiative to create a smooth, engaging shopping experience
• Lead by example on the sales floor, with customers, and while supporting the team
• Bring enthusiasm that helps maintain an energetic and welcoming atmosphere
• Communicate professionally and maintain composure during busy or unexpected situations
• Set clear expectations, assign priorities, and follow through with team members
• Direct and verify opening and closing procedures

Customer Service

• Welcome customers warmly and engage with them authentically
• Recognize the appropriate level of interaction, from answering questions to providing product demonstrations and tastings
• Walk customers to products instead of pointing and use genuine product knowledge to support sales
• Move consistently between store areas to ensure customers receive attentive service
• Go above and beyond by assisting with large purchases or checking other locations for products
• Recognize excellent customer service from team members and provide coaching when needed

Employee Support and Management

• Set clear expectations and respectfully hold team members accountable
• Adjust task priorities according to customer traffic, including pausing freight during busy periods
• Maintain clear, safe, and shoppable aisles
• Monitor staffing needs and fill in during events, busy periods, or important operational tasks
• Train new employees using clear and consistent methods
• Keep product knowledge current and help the team learn about new merchandise
• Check in regularly regarding task progress, customer engagement, and performance
• Work independently with minimal supervision while seeking clarification when needed

Inventory and Merchandising

• Keep freight processing and restocking focused on the customer experience
• Maintain organized and clearly labeled back-stock and storage areas
• Keep as much merchandise as possible on the sales floor in effective locations
• Follow established merchandising guidelines and train others to do the same
• Maintain accurate signage, visible pricing, and accessible product displays
• Ensure displays remain attractive, organized, and easy for customers to shop

Daily Operations

• Conduct daily store walk-throughs from the customer’s perspective and address concerns promptly
• Follow accurate cash-handling procedures and report discrepancies immediately
• Follow established return, damage, and loss-prevention procedures
• Direct and verify opening and closing tasks
• Use cleaning checklists to maintain store standards
• Adapt quickly when customer needs or operational priorities change

Qualifications

• Consistent evening and weekend availability
• Ability to close at least two nights per week
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Dependable, professional, and comfortable taking initiative
• Passion for customer service
• Interest in global foods, housewares, and unique merchandise
• Must be at least 18 years old
