Receiving Inspector

GNB Global is seeking a detail-oriented Receiving Inspector to join our Quality team. This position is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, verifying dimensional accuracy, reviewing fabrication drawings, and ensuring all received products meet GNB quality standards before entering production.

The ideal candidate has experience reading blueprints, interpreting weld symbols, using precision measuring tools, and performing visual inspections in a structural steel manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming shipments for quality, damage, and compliance with purchase orders and engineering drawings.
• Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Interpret weld symbols and verify weld requirements.
• Read and use squares to verify part accuracy and alignment.
• Perform precise measurements using calipers, tape measures, squares, and other inspection equipment.
• Accurately measure parts to specified tolerances.
• Verify flatness, squareness, and overall dimensional accuracy.
• Inspect fabricated tabs and components against drawings.
• Perform visual inspections of welds for workmanship and compliance.
• Verify material identification, grades, sizes, and MTRs (Material Test Reports).
• Document inspection results and communicate any nonconforming materials to the Quality Manager.
• Maintain organized inspection records and support continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Quality Control or Receiving Inspection within a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of weld symbols.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances.
• Ability to identify quality issues and communicate findings effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Familiarity with Material Test Reports (MTRs).
• Knowledge of AWS welding standards.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
