THE POSITION:
As a Patient Transporter, you'll be an essential part of the team, helping ensure patients receive the care they need by providing safe and reliable transportation between their homes and various medical facilities. You’ll work directly with people from all walks of life, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for during their ride. You’ll also stay in close communication with our dispatch team to help keep everything running smoothly. Your commitment to safety, being on time, friendly service, and your ability to drive larger vehicles for longer periods are all key to helping us carry out our mission at GMTCare.
STARTING RATE: $20.00
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Safe and professional patient transport between homes and medical facilities throughout the Las Vegas area.
- Efficient use of map software for navigation to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
- Communication with dispatch for instructions, updates, and to report any issues or delays.
- Adherence to strict safety protocols and performance of routine maintenance checks to ensure vehicle readiness.
- Ability to work well independently while managing your daily schedule and also collaboratively within a team environment.
- Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles, ensuring their safety and providing physical support as needed, utilizing appropriate transfer techniques and equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stretchers).
- Secure patients and any necessary equipment (e.g., oxygen tanks, mobility aids) within the vehicle according to safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained company vehicle, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of transportation logs and any required documentation.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Provide compassionate and respectful support to a diverse patient population, helping address their needs and ensuring a safe, comfortable, and reassuring experience during transport.
- Report any incidents, delays, or patient concerns to dispatch or the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 125 pounds to assist with patient transfers and equipment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Must be at least 22 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience with a valid Nevada driver’s license.
- Must have a clean driving record for the past 10 years, with no major traffic violations, license suspensions or revocations, at-fault accidents, or multiple speeding tickets that resulted in points on your license.
- Comfortable operating large vans safely for 8 hours or more per shift.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 125 pounds.
- CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
- Must successfully pass DOT drug and physical exams, as well as a comprehensive criminal background check.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to getting things done right.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols and company policies.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in potentially stressful situations.
- Comfortable handling bodily fluids with the use of proper protective equipment and working in environments where unpleasant odors may be present, while maintaining professionalism and following all safety and hygiene protocols.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, and overnights, is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Reno metropolitan area and its roadways is beneficial.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year of experience in non-emergency patient transport.
- 2 years of experience in a customer service role.
- Previous experience working in healthcare with a diverse patient population.
- Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are highly preferred.
