About the Role
We are looking for a Sr/Tax Manager to join our growing global finance organization. This role will be responsible for managing key tax matters across the Group while serving as a business-oriented internal tax advisor to Finance and other functions.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax knowledge with commercial judgment and the ability to translate complex tax considerations into practical business recommendations. You will partner closely with the Accounting, Legal, HR, Business, and Debt Financing teams on matters including commercial contracts, payment structures, cross-border transactions, and financing arrangements.
Experience with U.S. corporate and employment tax is a strong plus, given the company’s growing U.S. operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Advisory & Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary internal tax advisor on day-to-day business and financial matters.
- Advise Finance, Legal, and business teams on the tax implications of commercial contracts, customer and vendor arrangements, payment structures, and cross-border transactions.
- Identify tax risks and opportunities early in the business decision-making process and provide practical, commercially focused recommendations.
- Partner with internal and external tax advisors to evaluate complex or high-impact tax matters.
2. Debt Financing & Transaction Tax
- Partner closely with the Debt Financing team on financing transactions, providing tax advice throughout the deal lifecycle.
- Advise on deal structuring, financing structures, payment flows, withholding tax, and other tax-related considerations associated with debt financing.
- Review transaction documents and financing terms from a tax perspective and identify potential tax risks or opportunities.
- Coordinate with external tax counsel and advisors on complex financing and transaction-related tax matters.
3. General U.S. & International Tax
- Oversee and coordinate corporate and employment related tax compliance, including tax returns, estimated payments, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor tax implications of the Group’s rapidly expanding international operations and legal-entity structure.
- Support tax planning for cross-border transactions and intercompany arrangements.
- Ensure appropriate tax compliance and reporting processes are in place across relevant jurisdictions, working with external advisors as needed.
4. Tax Compliance & Risk Management
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors and ensure timely and accurate delivery of tax compliance work.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their potential impact on the business.
- Establish and improve tax processes, documentation, controls, and internal policies as the company scales.
5. Cross-functional Support
- Lead cross-border ESOP-related taxation planning, compliance, and employee education across relevant jurisdictions.
- Work closely with Accounting,Corporate Finance, Legal, HR/Payroll, and other teams on tax-related matters regarding new entity setup, market entry, business initiatives and global mobility.
- Support tax-related aspects of corporate transactions, restructuring, fundraising, and other strategic initiatives.
- Communicate tax issues clearly to senior management and non-tax stakeholders.
Qualifications
- CPA, JD, or equivalent qualification preferred
- 5-10 years of tax experience, ideally combining Big 4 (minimum 5 years) and in-house exposure (minimum 2 years)
- Strong working knowledge of US corporate tax is required; familiarity with US employment tax
- APAC tax exposure (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, SEA) is an advantage
- Experience advising on commercial contracts and payment related tax questions in a cross-border setting
- Exposure to debt financing, deal structuring, or transaction tax work
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving growth environment where guidance is often needed before all the facts are in
- Mandarin-English bilingual capability is a plus given our regional footprint
