The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing, managing and improving accounting procedures, providing accurate financial reporting and supporting financial decision-making. This role plays a key part in month-end and year-end activities, including generating journal entries, account reconciliations, implementing and maintaining internal controls and financial analysis. To include other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, including journal entry adjustments as necessary.
- Prepare balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statements, and other financial reports as necessary.
- Monitor and enforce internal controls and accounting policies; recommend improvements.
- Generate general ledger reconciliations.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies.
- Support audits (both internal and external), including preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial regulations and GAAP (or local accounting standards).
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff; review their work.
- Collaborate with other teams (e.g. operations, sales) to collect needed financial data.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and systems / technology upgrades.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA or equivalent preferred.
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, with progressive responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and IFS preferred) and MS Excel (advanced level).
- Experience with month-end, year-end close, audits and financial statement preparation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills — able to explain financial information to non‑financial staff.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with audit (internal or external) and SOX or compliance‑oriented environments.
- Experience with ERP system implementations or upgrades.
- Experience in manufacturing and intercompany accounting.
- Familiarity with FIA regulations.
