As a Program Management Lead at GM Performance Power Units, you will lead the delivery of critical assemblies and systems for our high-performance motorsport and automotive programs. You will orchestrate complex projects from concept to track, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring that our power unit development meets the demanding pace and precision of elite motorsport.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple high-priority F1 Power Unit programs, providing clear direction, accountability, and alignment with technical, performance, and regulatory objectives.
- Define project requirements and collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, test teams, and external partners to ensure all deliverables are met within agreed timelines.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate comprehensive project plans—including milestones, resource allocation, timelines, and cost tracking—while proactively managing budgets, business cases, and financial reporting.
- Identify, prioritize, escalate, and mitigate risks and issues throughout the program lifecycle, driving solutions to maintain momentum and quality.
- Lead regular program meetings, project reviews, gateway assessments, and update presentations, providing actionable insights to senior leadership and, where required, external partners such as the FIA.
- Establish and maintain effective metrics and reporting systems for program status, risks, and opportunities, supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Approve, review, and scrutinize project requests, ensuring resource requirements are clear, achievable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, performance, and continuous improvement across all departments and with external suppliers.
- Provide clear purchasing and manufacturing schedules to support build and test activities.
- Champion the integration of new project management tools and methodologies.
- Degree-qualified in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- Extensive program/project management experience in motorsport, automotive, or high-performance engineering (F1 experience preferred).
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams in high-pressure, dynamic environments.
- Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing and supply chain processes.
- Proficient in project management methodologies (AGILE, PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, or similar) and tools (MS Project, Jira, Primavera).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis (Power BI experience a plus).
- Exceptional stakeholder management, problem-solving, and business analysis skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Flexibility to support live events and adapt to changing priorities.
- International travel may be required to support project needs and to collaborate with global teams.
