Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, preparing bids, and supporting project planning for structural steel components. Your expertise will help ensure our projects are competitively priced while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Duties
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for structural steel projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed bids and proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project scope and refine pricing strategies.
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure favorable pricing and terms.
- Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Assist in contract review and development, ensuring all scope of work is clearly defined and aligned with project goals.
- Support cost control efforts during project execution by tracking expenses and managing change orders.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating, particularly within heavy industrial or structural steel projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction management processes, contracts, and project management principles.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for document markup and review, as well as HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure optimal pricing and contractual terms.
- Hands-on construction site experience to better understand field conditions impacting estimates.
- Familiarity with cost control techniques, pricing strategies, and construction site safety standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents accurately.
