What are the responsibilities and job description for the Breakfast Cook position at GM Culinary?
We are currently seeking a Breakfast Cook to help support our amazing client’s culinary operations. It just so happens to be the largest social media company in the world.
The Breakfast Cook will prepare menus and cook in our modern, state of the art kitchens. Our ideal candidate is skilled, passionate and works well in a team environment. Our menus change daily and focus on authentic flavors and creative inspiration.
Essential Job Functions
- Sets up breakfast station every day
- Responsible for production of all breakfast items including weekly specials
- Creates meals from scratch, executing proper cooking fundamentals and techniques
- Preps food and maintains par levels for the week
- Responsible for carving meats during lunch service
- Tastes food to ensure proper seasoning
- Monitors product freshness and rotation using FIFO
- Completes the appropriate logs as assigned
- Cleans assigned equipment and/or culinary space as assigned by GM Culinary management
- May assist the Dishwashers in cleaning dishes, pots, pans, utensils, flatware, etc, as directed
- Follows safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with all guidelines from OSHA, Department of Public Health and the HACCP Coordinator
- Demonstrate and follow standardized recipes, scale them appropriately and weigh and measure foods utilizing both standard and metric units of measurement
- Complies with all local, state, federal laws and regulations including those relating to food safety
- Heavy and repetitive hand and arm motion, standing, walking, bending/twisting and balance
- Stands for a minimum of 8 hours a day
- Detect workplace hazards, navigate work areas, follow written directions, and safely operate equipment
- Lift, push and/or move up to 50lbs
- Safely work around hot surfaces, sharp objects and potentially wet and/or slippery floors
- Onsite, in-person attendance is an essential function
- Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility and an essential function of each employee at GM Culinary
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Reviews menus as a team and creates an action plan for the week
- Responsible for ordering product and writing prep lists for breakfast
- Assists in maintaining an organized walk-in cooler
- May be responsible for menu writing and recipe development
Minimum Qualifications
- Proper knife cuts and safe knife handling skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Sense of urgency
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience working in a fast paced environment
- Obtain and maintain an active Food Handlers Card for the duration of employment
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a Cook role preferred
