Summary: This classification is to analyze crime data in support of the department's investigative and law enforcement functions. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations
Essential Job Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Receives and completes intelligence requests for internal staff and other agencies; prepares statistical reports, offender profiles, officer safety reports, and reports related to the places, people, or crimes.
- Monitors, records, and distributes intelligence related to specific crimes on a weekly basis.
- Assist Detectives with case management support as needed.
- Produces photo line-ups utilizing the internet to identify photographs, prints, and numbers the photographs.
- Monitors crime trends and reports to identify suspicious data.
- Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes database or other computer programs.
- Maintains a current knowledge and awareness of applicable laws/ordinances; maintains an awareness of new procedures, trends, and advances in the profession.
Qualifications & Benefits
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having a similar position for one or two years. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Most possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the state of Georgia. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.
