Job Title: Assembly Supervisor
Reports To: Plant Manager
Position Summary
The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily assembly operations related to refurbishing steel mill equipment, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. This role leads a team of assembly technicians, coordinates workflow, and drives continuous improvement in a heavy industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Supervise and coordinate daily assembly & disassembly activities for steel mill equipment and components
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and efficiency standards
- Monitor workflow, staffing, and material availability to minimize downtime
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and routers
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of assemblers and technicians
- Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure productivity and accountability
- Conduct training for new hires and ongoing skill development
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and work standards
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in a heavy industrial environment
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
- Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of tools and equipment
Quality Control
- Ensure all assemblies meet engineering specifications and quality standards
- Collaborate with Inspectors and Engineering teams to resolve issues
- Conduct inspections and address defects or rework requirements
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes
Communication & Coordination
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and supply chain teams
- Provide production updates and reports to management
- Maintain accurate production and labor records
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred
- 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial assembly
- 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Experience with steel mill equipment, heavy machinery, or custom fabrication strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of assembly processes, tools, and heavy equipment
- Familiarity with welding, machining, or mechanical systems is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Effective communication and organizational skills
Working Conditions
- Industrial manufacturing environment (noise, heat, dust, heavy equipment)
- Regular standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs or more with assistance)
- May require overtime, weekends, or shift work based on production needs
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Production output and schedule adherence
- Quality metrics (defects, rework rates)
- Safety performance (incident rates)
- Labor efficiency and downtime reduction

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
