Position Summary
The Dietary Aide supports the dietary team by assisting the cook with the preparation and serving of nutritious, appealing, and well-balanced meals for residents in a 51-bed personal care home. This role ensures that residents’ dietary needs and preferences are met while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks according to posted menus and resident dietary needs.
- Set up dining areas and serve meals in a courteous and timely manner.
- Assist residents with meal service as needed, ensuring dignity and respect are maintained.
- Follow portion control guidelines and special diet orders (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, mechanical soft, Puree).
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; clean kitchen equipment and work areas to maintain sanitation standards.
- Stock food, supplies, and equipment in an organized and safe manner.
- Adhere to infection control, food safety, and state health regulations.
- Report low food and supply inventory to the Dietary Manager or Supervisor.
- Collaborate with dietary team members to provide a positive dining experience for residents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient kitchen operation.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of Personal Care Regulations or willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, healthcare, or hospitality (preferred but not required).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to sanitation and safety practices.
- Compassionate and respectful when working with elderly residents.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs and push and pull 100lbs.
Work Environment
- 51-bed personal care home with a homelike, resident-centered dining program.
- Team-based environment requiring flexibility and cooperation.
Job Types: Part-time, Per diem
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
