Community Engagement Coordinator to Join Our Team.
Under general supervision, the Community Engagement Coordinator performs administrative, communications, and community engagement work in planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating school and community involvement initiatives for Gloucester High School. Work involves leading a comprehensive communications and engagement program that strengthens relationships among students, families, staff, alumni, business partners, community organizations, and the public. The Community Engagement Coordinator serves as a highly visible representative of Gloucester High School and is responsible for enhancing the school’s public image, strengthening school communications, developing and maintaining a consistent school brand, and promoting the mission, accomplishments, programs, and culture of Gloucester High School through print, digital, social, and in-person engagement strategies.
Responsibilities include oversight of school communications platforms, media relations, community partnerships, volunteer coordination, event promotion, and public engagement initiatives. The employee must exercise independent judgment, initiative, creativity, professionalism, and attention to detail in all areas of communication, branding, and program management. Frequent interaction with school officials, staff, students, families, community partners, alumni, media representatives, and the public require exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Reports to the Community Engagement Supervisor.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive school and community engagement initiatives designed to strengthen relationships among Gloucester High School, families, alumni, business partners, civic organizations, and the broader community.
- Leads and manages the school’s communication strategy, including newsletters, social media platforms, promotional materials, photography, limited video storytelling, and other public information efforts.
- Establishes and maintains a consistent and professional Gloucester High School brand that reflects school pride, student achievement, academic excellence, and community involvement.
- Serves as a highly visible representative of Gloucester High School.
- Schedules, coordinates and supervises use of school facility by school, county, community groups and local agencies.
- Serves as the primary liaison between Gloucester High School and community organizations.
- Manages school volunteer and partnership programs, including recruitment, orientation, communication, and recognition of program participants.
- Develops and facilitates opportunities for community outreach.
- Creates compelling content that highlights student achievement, instructional innovation, career-technical education opportunities, extracurricular activities, athletics, fine arts, and school initiatives through a variety of communication channels.
- Assists school departments with streamlining marketing and promotional campaigns.
- Collaborates with school staff, County and Division departments, and community stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with goals and branding standards.
- Utilizes various software platforms.
- Serves on school, County, Division, and community committees as requested or appointed.
- Assists with special projects.
- Performs other related work as required.

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Education, Community Engagement, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, school/community engagement, event coordination, or related work preferred.
- Experience in social media management, branding, graphic design, photography, video production, or school communications is strongly preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
