Duties
- Perform thorough decontamination of dental instruments and equipment using approved sterilization methods and medical equipment sterilization protocols.
- Assemble, inspect, and package sterile medical instruments with precision, ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques and infection prevention standards.
- Manage inventory levels of sterilized supplies, restocking storage areas and tracking usage to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Reprocess endoscopes and other specialized dental tools following strict reprocessing procedures to guarantee safety and functionality.
- Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and quality assurance documentation in accordance with healthcare infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Conduct routine inspections of sterilization equipment to ensure proper operation, troubleshooting issues promptly when necessary.
- Support infection control initiatives by adhering to all protocols related to decontamination, sterilization, and handling of surgical instruments.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sterile processing or medical instrument assembly within a healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to dental procedures to understand instrument requirements thoroughly.
- Familiarity with infection prevention management practices, including aseptic technique and healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and endoscope reprocessors confidently.
- Excellent organizational skills for inventory management and recordkeeping accuracy.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to dental procedures and instrumentation is preferred.
