Architectural & Interior Design Specification Representative

About the Role Our client is a premier manufacturer of innovative interior acoustical and custom millwork solutions. They are seeking a highly motivated, relationship-driven Specification Sales Representative. In this role, you will champion high-performance, aesthetically striking architectural solutions across the Architecture & Design (A&D) community.
You will partner with architects and interior designers during the schematic and design phases, serving as a trusted technical advisor for project challenges spanning acoustics, aesthetics, sustainability, and occupant well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Specification Development: Partner with architects and interior designers to drive product selection and secure firm specifications from schematic design through construction documentation.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate long-term, high-trust relationships with key decision-makers across A&D firms through regular meetings and networking events.
- Education & Thought Leadership: Deliver accredited continuing education presentations (AIA CES, IDCEC) and educate design teams on acoustical performance, custom finishes, and code compliance.
- Technical & Design Support: Guide clients on product customization, acoustic performance data, and detailing, collaborating with internal SMEs and estimating teams to provide budgetary guidance.
- Pipeline Management: Track project milestones and firm contacts in the CRM; participate in weekly strategy meetings to convert specifications into awarded sales revenue.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven track record in specification sales, architectural products, commercial interiors, or building materials (AEC industry).
- Skills: Strong ability to read architectural drawings/specifications and deliver compelling presentations.
- A&D Network: Existing relationships with architects, interior designers, and commercial specifiers within assigned territories (preferred).
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with commercial construction processes, acoustics, specialty ceilings, wall panels, or custom millwork (preferred).
- Travel: Willingness to travel regularly across assigned regional territory.
