Job Summary:
The Staff Environmental Specialist will support environmental compliance activities for a manufacturing facility, including data analysis, field assessments, permit-related documentation, and routine inspections. This role requires strong environmental compliance knowledge, facility operations understanding, and the ability to produce accurate regulatory reports. The specialist will work onsite at the Meadville, PA facility to support temporary staffing needs for a 6–9 month period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze environmental data and prepare compliance reports aligned with permit requirements.
- Conduct field surveys and assessments; collect operations-related data for environmental demonstrations of compliance.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
- Collect operational data for air emissions analysis and calculation.
- Perform environmental site investigations, erosion control support, and subsurface soil sampling.
- Conduct routine inspections and measurements of facility equipment; document observations accurately.
- Support preparation of permit applications related to air and water operations.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to support required testing and measurement programs.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related natural science/engineering with 4 years of environmental and permitting study experience
OR
Master's degree with 3 years of related experience. - Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work methodically in a quantitative environment with strong critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical information.
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental compliance programs and compliance audit processes.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting processes.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Experience with facility operations or manufacturing environments.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors for environmental work.
- Familiarity with field sampling, erosion control, or subsurface soil investigations.
