- Shift / Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- Alternating Saturdays: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Job Summary
The Phlebotomist / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the patient-facing representative for specimen collection services, performing high-quality venipuncture, preparing specimens for testing, and ensuring a positive, safe, and professional experience for all patients. This role requires strong technical skill, accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to uphold process excellence standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection accurately and safely for diverse patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Conduct both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing tasks confidently.
- Complete daily responsibilities accurately and on time with minimal supervision.
- Maintain proper patient documentation and ensure compliance with labeling and verification procedures.
- Promote a positive image to patients, colleagues, and the general public.
- Remain flexible for weekends, holidays, overtime, and coverage needs.
Required Experience
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
- 1 year preferred.
- Customer service experience (retail or service environment) preferred.
- Strong keyboard/data entry skills required.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, WA—but not in NY).
Required Skills
- Excellent phlebotomy skills for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Ability to perform error-free work in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Strong communication and patient engagement abilities.
- Adaptability to changing schedules and workload requirements.
