Job Summary
The Phlebotomist (PSR II) serves as the primary point of patient interaction, drawing quality blood specimens, maintaining accuracy in specimen processing, and supporting clinical workflows across multiple locations. This role requires excellent phlebotomy skills, strong customer service, and the ability to create a trusting, confident patient experience while maintaining safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Draw high-quality blood samples and prepare specimens for lab testing following established procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients in a clear, professional, and reassuring manner.
- Ensure accuracy in patient demographic verification and labeling, including post-venipuncture signatures.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling patient information.
- Support multiple service locations as needed, including PSC, IOP, and doctor’s office settings.
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under direction of the area supervisor.
- Uphold safety standards and maintain a professional, patient-focused environment.
- Execute both forensic and clinical specimen collection duties confidently.
- Promote a positive organizational image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, on-call needs, and overtime.
- Commitment to dress code, health & safety standards, and organizational guiding principles.
- Ability to use sound judgment and follow established procedures.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Ability to travel to multiple locations and cover PSC/IOP sites with minimal notice.
- Strong customer focus, communication skills, adaptability, and business knowledge.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in high-volume settings.
Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA.
Required Experience
- Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
