Job Summary
The Senior Supplier Quality Specialist leads the development and implementation of the company's programs for supplier quality and performance to ensure established requirements are met in accordance with the client's specifications while adhering to Burns & McDonnell policies. Resource can sit out of either the KC or Houston office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the project plan efforts for supplier surveillance and expediting.
- Approve and ensure accurate project budget estimates and manage project expenditures.
- Lead selected shop visits to monitor and verify that equipment or materials meet established requirements and follow-up on any corrective action.
- Analyze existing processes, develop specific inspection instructions and assignments and implement procedures to improve supplier quality.
- Develop and implement guidelines for the establishment of Inspect and Test Plan (ITP's) and inspection levels.
- Develop and implement guidelines for the development of inspection specifications.
- Develop and implement budget estimation process for inspection budgets.
- Responsible for the accurate completion and presentation of inspection assignment packages.
- Select and authorize proposed inspection resources.
- Lead pre-inspection meetings with inspectors.
- Validate and approve inspection logs and schedules.
- Provide training and guidance to inspection resources with scheduling of activities at suppliers.
- Present procurement reports to the project team(s), vendor and client.
- Responsible for outstanding actions and the resolution communication to appropriate parties.
- Approve completion of all Nonconformance Reports (Client's).
- Manage the release process.
- Lead presentations involving lessons learned logs and develop solutions and implement to ensure future success.
- Authorize the closeout of inspection files.
- Problem solve quality issues with clients, suppliers, and project staff (office and field).
- Lead training for the supplier quality team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in a welding technology program, supplier quality program, engineering or related field, and 7 years of experience working in the field of quality control in industrial construction and/or equipment manufacturing; OR
- Associate Degree in a welding technology program, supplier quality program, engineering or related field, and 9 years of experience working in the field of quality control in industrial construction and/or equipment manufacturing; OR
- High School Diploma/GED and 11 years of experience working in the field of quality control in industrial construction and/or equipment manufacturing.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license required; AND
- One of the following certifications is required:
- NDT qualifications such as RT, PT, UT, MT, VT, RTFI (PCN/ERS/ACCP); OR - Welding Inspector qualification such as AWS CWI, SCWI, CSWIP 3.1 OR 3.2, EWI, EWT, EWE, IIW/EWF Diploma or BGAS; OR - Coating / Painting qualification such as NACE, ICorr, BGAS, Frosio, ICAT; OR - Boiler & Pressure Vessel ASME Authorized Inspector; OR - API653 Above ground storage tank, API570 Piping, API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector or API936 Refractory Inspector; OR - D&C trained Inspector to DS-1 or NS-1; OR - ASME or CSWIP Plant Inspector qualifications; OR - ISO 9001:2008 approved Lead or Principal Auditor; OR - OSHAS 18001 approved lead Auditor; OR - ISO14001 approved Lead Auditor; OR - Is a certified ASQ Quality Engineer, Quality Technician or Quality Inspector; OR - HSSE qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA, NIOSH, OHSAS, NSC or ECITB; OR - API – Source Inspector.
Required Skills
- Expert with applicable industry's internationally recognized standards and codes.
- Expert with Microsoft Office.
- Expert written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with welding and materials inspection on large construction projects and experience working with an EPC contractor preferred.
