- Travel Requirements: Monthly to quarterly travel is required to client locations. Occasional overnight stays may be necessary to support client meetings and project milestones.

Job Summary
This is a contract Instructional Designer role focused on designing and developing training curriculum for apprenticeships in the utilities industry. The position works under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates, and requires the candidate to be located within the client territory in the Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop instructor-led and on-the-job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry.
- Leverage and apply established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training.
- Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media.
- Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize training design and content.
- Define learning objectives, and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment.
- Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates.
- Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience.
- Participate in milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and train the trainer.
- Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.
- Receive and incorporate feedback.
- Self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables.
- Proactively communicate issues and risks.
Required Skills
- 3 years of experience developing instructor-led training and on-the-job tasks for technical skills.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design and methodologies.
- Proven experience performing task analysis.
- Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver against multiple competing deadlines, as needed.
- Excellent analysis skills.
- Strategic thinking and time management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience developing multi-year technical training programs for adult learners.
- Experience with QuestionMark, Author-It, and/or Storyline.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Must be located in the client territory (Bay Area / near Livermore).
- Monthly to quarterly travel is required to client locations.

- Laptop and any additional equipment needed will be provided by the supplier.
- Any required PPE will be supplied by the client.
- Mileage, meals, and lodging are eligible for expense reimbursement with manager prior approval as applicable.
