The Railroad Permitting Specialist will support infrastructure development projects by coordinating and managing permitting activities related to transmission line and substation expansion work. The role involves working with project managers, design engineers, environmental consultants, GIS mapping specialists, and real estate coordinators to secure necessary approvals and maintain compliance with railroad and linear infrastructure permitting requirements.Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, environmental consultants, GIS mapping specialists, and real estate coordinators to prepare permit applications for railroad permitting to facilitate construction impacts related to transmission line and substation expansion projects
- Complete and submit permit applications, and pursue application through timeframe until permit is issued or authorized
- Obtain permitting authorizations for all crossings related to linear transmission line projects, including but not limited to railroad crossings and turnpike crossings
- Obtain entry and access permits
- Support environmental permitting tasks if requested
- Support fiber and communication permitting tasks if requested
- Interact with construction contractors for electrical transmission lines, fiber, road building, foundations, geotechnical, survey, and restoration with respect to permitting needs and maintain an understanding of railroad permitting compliance
- Support client needs as directed
- Assist with document research
- Provide assistance to client on electrical distribution projects
- Bachelor’s degree in related environmental field from an accredited curriculum
- Minimum of five years of experience with permitting Pennsylvania linear projects
- Experience coordinating permits for infrastructure or utility construction projects
- Strong understanding of railroad permitting processes and requirements
- Experience supporting electrical transmission or distribution projects
- Familiarity with environmental permitting processes
- Experience working with GIS teams, engineering groups, and infrastructure contractors
- Exposure to fiber or communications permitting
