As a Geotechnical Field Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the construction of large-scale infrastructure at the Thacker Pass Project site. This onsite position involves direct oversight of earthwork activities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, and providing critical support to the Geotechnical Engineering Lead. You'll serve as the technical liaison between engineering, field contractors, and the internal construction team.Key Responsibilities:
- Review scopes of work, technical specifications, and drawings related to earthworks.
- Ensure technical requirements and specifications are met in the field.
- Coordinate and oversee contractor performance during geotechnical and earthwork activities.
- Liaise with contractor field representatives and internal construction management teams.
- Maintain regular communication with the project's Geotechnical Engineering Lead.
- M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology with 8 years of experience
OR B.S. with 10 years of experience in the field - Hands-on experience executing earthwork operations at large construction sites
- Previous work in challenging ground conditions and on large infrastructure projects
- Professional engineering registration (PE or equivalent)
- International project experience or remote location fieldwork
- Prior collaboration with multi-disciplinary project teams
- Broad knowledge of geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics
- Familiarity with earthwork construction, testing, and subsurface investigations
- Strong understanding of health and safety compliance on large job sites
- Proficiency in geotechnical modeling software
- Working knowledge of field and laboratory testing methodologies
- Excellent communication and field coordination skills
- Computer literacy with MS Office and geotechnical tools
- Ability to troubleshoot field issues and ensure drawing/spec compliance
- Support design and construction team with real-time field input
- Maintain thorough documentation and ensure stakeholder alignment
