A respected community animal clinic in Rochester is seeking a Medical Director to lead a thriving hospital serving Monroe County. The Role

As Medical Director, this leader will guide the hospital’s medical vision and standards of care while partnering closely with the practice manager and leadership team. Responsibilities include:

• Driving hospital growth and continuous improvement
• Upholding high standards in patient and client care
• Mentoring and developing medical staff
• Implementing strategic initiatives that support both operational success and team wellbeing
• Fostering a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven culture

This position blends hands-on clinical work with influential leadership, offering the ability to shape both outcomes and organizational direction.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent
• 4 years post-graduation experience
• Strong surgery skills
• Mentoring skills
• Active New York veterinary license in good standing (or eligibility prior to start)
• Active DEA license (or eligibility)
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills

About the Hospital

This high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter and vaccine clinic is dedicated to serving Rochester’s low-income community, as well as numerous rescue and adoption organizations. The team delivers compassionate, individualized care and partners closely with pet parents to ensure trusted, accessible veterinary services.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. — supporting strong work-life balance with no weekend hours.

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting base salary from $170,000k annually, with Quarterly ProSal bonuses
• No negative accrual
• Medical Director Annual stipend $10k-$20k - Paid out Pro-rata, weekly
• Medical Director 12 month retention bonus
• 22% production
