Global Rock Works provides innovative geotechnical and rock fall mitigation solutions. We are a rapidly growing organization working with top tier clients on dozens of complex projects across Western North America.
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Geotechnical Construction Project Manager to oversee rockfall mitigation, slope stabilization and geohazard projects. This role is critical in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects while maintaining strict safety standards and budget control. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project, from initial planning to completion, ensuring that work is carried out to the highest standards and within the approved timeframe and budget.
This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work in high-pressure environments while working with and managing multiple stakeholders and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Review and analyze bid packages to understand project scope and requirements.
- Lead pre-job and project kick-off meetings to ensure all stakeholders are aligned.
- Identify and order necessary equipment for project execution.
- Prepare submittals
- Establish project database and record keeping system
- Identify and vet suppliers and subcontractors to meet project requirements.
- Confirm that subcontractors are pre-qualified, and their pricing aligns with the project budget.
- Manage the timely delivery of materials and subcontractor services.
Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC)
- Monitor and inspect work throughout the project to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications are followed, and quality standards are met.
Budgeting & Financial Management
- Define project phases and establish a clear operating budget, including reconciliation of change orders and price adjustments.
- Conduct project forecasting, comparing actual costs against estimates and contractual obligations.
- Oversee invoice coordination to ensure billing aligns with project progress.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain regular communication with clients and stakeholders, providing project updates, and ensuring expectations are met.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in geotechnical and/or heavy civil construction
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred
- Proven experience managing projects on remote job sites.
- Experience managing rockfall mitigation, slope stabilization, or geohazard projects strongly preferred
- Familiarity with drilling, anchoring, scaling, or rope access operations is a strong asset
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build effective teams and maintain professional relationships.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Safety-focused, with a deep understanding of site safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.
Work Environment
- Regular travel is required to remote job sites, approximately 50% of the time.
- Flexible working hours may be necessary to meet project timelines and client needs.
