JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY

JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
- Build prototype and sample gearmotors according to layout drawings for models requested
- Test prototype and sample gearmotors to specifications of the model
- Document the performance data for the gearmotor being tested. If previous data exists for that model, will compare the results and determine if the information is consistent. If not, will determine what is causing the variation in data.
- Inspect returned goods determining root cause of failures and reporting results on findings to engineering
- Maintain all testing information on samples
- Notify Engineering of changes that should be made to specifications or layout sheets from test results
- Recommend additional testing when required
- Analyze, document, and repair returned gearmotors as requested
- Check the accuracy of the machined parts (gears, pinions, shafts, housings) according to dimensions marked in the manufacturing drawings based on part # requested
- Record the dimensions in the worksheet / computer and determine whether the machined part meets the print requirements. If not, will follow the procedure as mentioned in the Deviation Request form and notify the Engineer & Shop supervisor.
- Check the paperwork for incoming materials / finished parts (bar stock, heat treat, grinding, etc.) and make sure it meets the KMG specifications as mentioned in the part drawing
- Maintain the inspection tools, gages, test equipment and respective hardware in the lab
- Understand the product functionality and propose recommendations for measurement
- Maintain the product validation lab as a clean workplace
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report any unsafe situations to supervisor, manager, or human resources
- Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education/L:icensure/Credentials
Required: Associate's degree in Engineering or Technical Program or the equivalent related On-The-Job Preferred:
Experience
Required: 2 years’ hands-on experience building electrical and mechanical components
Preferred: 5 years’ hands-on experience building electrical and mechanical components, quality background
Preferred: 5 years’ hands-on experience building electrical and mechanical components, quality background
Special Knowledge/Skills
Required:
- Working knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies with ability to troubleshoot to determine root cause of issues
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and basic office tools and equipment
- Need to be able to use and understand the use of measuring equipment, i.e. calipers, micrometers, plug gauges, etc.
- Able to read and understand mechanical parts and assembly drawings
- Ability to interpret simple wiring diagrams
- Must have good time management skills, be highly motivated to solve problems, detail oriented, and able to establish priorities
- Strong organizational skills, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, customer service focus, technical capacity, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to effectively make complex decisions with limited time and information and can determine decision making criteria based on priorities
Preferred:
- Knowledge of 3D & 2D CAD software is a plus
- Experience with assembly tooling and fixture design
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines with internal and external resources
- Strong analytical capabilities, with a basic understanding of statistical analysis techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills, independent problem resolution
