Responsibilities
- Creates, maintains, and manages credentialing files for all categories of medical staff—including active, courtesy, associate, advanced practice professionals, and emeritus—by ensuring the completion of all required credentialing packets for new providers. Communicates with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to obtain necessary documentation, identify discrepancies, and conduct timely follow-up.
- Performs all aspects of credentialing verification for both initial and recredentialing processes, ensuring the accurate compilation, organization, and review of information so that any issues are identified and addressed promptly. Collaborates with the Medical Staff Services (MSS) team and Manager to ensure all applications are complete and compliant.
- Coordinates documentation and communication for the focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) process for newly privileged providers, tracking reviewer feedback and ensuring timely submission of all materials. Utilizes all available data sources to compile quality metrics for the ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) process, partnering with the Manager of MSS, Medical Staff, and cross-functional departments to ensure meaningful performance-improvement measures.
- Provides support for medical staff committees as needed, including meeting scheduling, preparation, minute-taking, and distribution of finalized minutes. Offers administrative support to the Medical Staff by preparing letters, memos, and reports from drafts, notes, or oral instructions, ensuring accuracy in spelling, grammar, formatting, punctuation, and structure. Drafts routine correspondence in accordance with organizational policies and leadership expectations.
- Tracks and monitors credential and license expiration dates in alignment with accreditation standards. Verifies renewals, communicates required actions to medical staff, and maintains the credentialing database to ensure all records remain current and compliant.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business Administration or equivalent training and work.
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred. Applicants should pursue certification within 4 years of start.
- 2 years of office experience including word processing and transcription skills.
Familiar and well-versed in Microsoft Excel and office programs.
