Revenue Cycle Medical Billing – Call Center – Patient Advocate

The Call Center – Patient Advocate is responsible for providing empathetic and professional customer service in an active call center environment.
Essential Functions/Duties
- Take inbound calls assisting customers with billing inquiries.
- Make outbound calls to validate active insurance coverage.
- Collect outstanding balances.
- Assist customers with Compassionate Care applications.
- Document billing activity accurately.
Required Experience
- A minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience
- A minimum of one (1) year working in a call center environment
- Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
- Must possess empathic and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and experience of computers and related technology, at an intermediate level
- Healthcare/Revenue Cycle billing experience
- Sales/Collections experience
- High school diploma
- GED
- Or significant, relevant work experience
- Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
- Ability to prepare routine administrative work
- Records maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of health care billing compliance regulations (basic)
- Knowledge and understanding of payor Explanation of Benefits (basic)
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
